Gran Canaria - a luxury escape with Labranda Playa Bonita Hotel

We all have memories related to our schoolmates. If you lost contact with them, one day you'll ask yourself the question "what is Bertrand doing today?". I ask myself this question several times and even more when we decided to go to Gran Canaria where I lived for two years when I was a little girl. Are Belinda, Héctor and Octavio still living on the island?

Discovering Jerusalem and the Dead Sea with Tourist Israel

After a a short weekend in Tel Aviv we wanted to visit Jerusalem but with a guide. I immediately liked the site of Tourist Israel, it is well structured and it offers all the tours that you can imagine. Although the choice was difficult because I wanted to do everything, we finally chose the Jerusalem, Dead sea with Bethlehem as option.

The alarm rang early but we are excited, the day promises to be unforgettable. Here we are, at the meeting point with our bag filled with "soufganiot", delicious donuts prepared for the Hanukka period.
Our driver is very kind and along the road he explains us a lot of things. We arrive in Jerusalem more or less 45 minutes later. We are four in total to stop here, the rest of the group will continue the road to Masada.
We meet our guide, Chris, very friendly and nice. We leave behind the new part of the city with its shops and trendy bar and we start our tour.

Jerusalem is the central city of Jewish, Christian and Muslim religions. The part called old city, is split in four neighborhoods: the Jewish, the Christian, the Muslim and the Armenian one. It also considered holy for three times because it contains the most sacred places of the Jewish, Christian and the third holy place of Islam.
We enter the old town by the Jaffa Gate and you immediately see the Tower of David in the Citadel. Old fortress that became nowadays the main museum of the history of Jerusalem. We continue to the Cardo Square in the Jewish Quarter, it was the main street that connected the Damascus Gate (north) to the Zion Gate (south). The Cardo served as an open passage for cattle and carts, as well as sidewalks for pedestrians.

We continued on the Via Dolorosa or Way on the Cross, on which Jesus had walked before his crucifixion and we arrive at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. It is built below the place where Jesus was crucified and contains inside his walls his grave. The Byzantine church has been renovated, rebuilt and enlarged over the years. Today it is a special place of meditation and prayer.

We continue through the Jewish quarter and we reach the Western Wall, one of the holiest places in the Jewish religion. I was very moved because I was waiting to see this place for a very long time. Images that we often see on TV but being here is speechless.
Here, Jews from all over the World come to pray and place their prayers and wishes on small paper slipped between the stones of the wall. You can touch the wall and kiss it if you want to. I an not a very religious person but when I touch the wall I felt a special sensation. A sense of well being and lightness. Of course I also slipped my own wishes into a crack in the wall.
This 2000 year old wall was part of the supporting walls of the Temple Mount on which stood the Second Temple destroyed in the '70s.

At this time you can decide whether to stay an hour and a half in Jerusalem or visit Bethlem for a supplement of 15-20$. We decided to stay in Jerusalem to have a little more time, enjoy the city and stroll through the Shuks.

It's time to take the road again because our tour is not finished yet. We continue towards the Dead sea. Still a very special place that I wanted to see for a long time.
The road to get there from Jerusalem is very beautiful. A landscape like a desert, as I like them. You must know that the Dead sea is very large but there are only certain places where people can actually go. So I suggest to go with a guide or to ask how to reach those places.

We arrive not far from Kalia Beach. We have some free time to enjoy the place and take a swim :-) We went straight to the water. It's really important to know that you shouldn't touch your face with the water of the Dead sea. Due to the amount of salt it could burn quiet hard.

It's time to get dress cause we need to go back to Tel Aviv. Just before our departure a wonderful sunset concluded this magnificent day.
On the page Tourist Israel website you'll find all the tours with the prices and all the explanations. I highly recommend it because it is a very serious Company and they provide a high quality service.
Israel is a beautiful and rich Country that deserves to be visited several times. I 'm already dreaming of going back.
