Discovering the Cheese Valley - the Gouda hometown

Vous pourrez donc imaginer ma joie quand j'ai été invité à un press trip dans la Vallé du Fromage en Hollande qui se trouve entre Amsterdam, Rotterdam, La Haye et Utrecht. C'est une destination très facile à joindre et très bien desservie si vous préférez venir en train.
Le Gouda, fromage mondialement connu est né en Holland et il doit son nom à la région Gouda. Celle du Gouda, c'est une recette qui a été importé dans le monde entier. Mais le gout que le Gouda a ici, en Hollande, et vraiment autre chose. Il est produit dans les villages et les fermes autour de la ville de Gouda.Pendant deux jours j'ai pu découvrir tout sur le Gouda, comment il est fait, le différents type de Gouda et beaucoup plus. Je vais détailler ci-dessous notre itinéraire qui pourra certainement vous aider si vous planifier de visiter la Cheese Valley.

If you know me a little you know my love for cheeses. So you can imagine my delight when I was invited to a press trip to Holland's Cheese Valley which lies between Amsterdam, Rotterdam, The Hague and Utrecht. It is a very easy destination to reach and very well served if you prefer to come by train.
Gouda, a world famous cheese was born in Holland and it owes its name to the Gouda region. The recipe of Gouda has been imported all over the world. But the taste that Gouda has here in Holland is really something else. It is produced in villages and farms around the city of Gouda.For two days I was able to discover everything about Gouda, how it is made, the different types of Gouda and much more. I will detail our itinerary below which will certainly help you if you plan to visit the Cheese Valley.
Jour 1:On commence cette journée par la visite de la ferme De Twee Hoeven situé à Haastrecht. Cette ferme est complètement géré par une famille et ses enfants. Ils possèdent 200 vaches qui sont traites deux fois par jour ce qui leur permet de produire 4000 kilos de fromages par semaine. C'est incroyable!! Après avoir découvert comment leur fromage est fait vous aurez accès à une jolie boutique pour pouvoir repartir le mains pleins de fromages. 
Day 1:We start this day with a visit to the De Twee Hoeven farm located in Haastrecht. This farm is completely run by a family and their children. They have 200 cows which are milked twice a day which allows them to produce 4000 kilos of cheese per week. It's incredible!! After discovering how their cheese is made, you will have access to a nice shop so you can leave with your hands full of cheeses.

On continue en direction de Gouda pour visiter le Gouda Cheese Experience, un musée interactive que j'ai beaucoup aimé. Si vous voyagez avec des enfants c'est vraiment une étape à ne pas rater. De façon ludique vous découvrirez tous les secret du très bon Gouda.
We continue towards Gouda to visit the Gouda Cheese Experience, an interactive museum that I really liked. If you are traveling with children, this is definitely a stop not to be missed. In a playful way you will discover all the secrets of the very good Gouda.

Prenez ensuite du temps pour flâner dans les ruelles de la ville de Gouda. Mangez autour de la place principal en regardant son église Sint Janskerk et arrêtez vous à la Siroopwafelfabriek KamphuisenIci, lors de votre visite, vous découvrirez tous les secrets de l'authentique Siroopwafel. Comment son sirop est fait, comment les wafels sont produit et assemblez pour donner vie à une délicieuse et croquante siroopwafel. 
Then take some time to stroll through the alleys of the city of Gouda. Eat around the main square looking at its Sint Janskerk Church and stop at the Siroopwafel fabriek Kamphuisen Here, during your visit, you will discover all the secrets of the authentic Siroopwafel. How its syrup is made, how the wafels are produced and assembled to give life to a delicious and crunchy siroopwafel.

C'est le moment de continuer vers la ville de Woerden et visiter le Cheese Experience warehouse.Le seul entrepôt de fromages aux Pays-Bas encore en activité et qui peut être visité. Ici vous serez accompagné par un expert, vous découvrirez la finesse de fabrication du fromage et vous verrez comment celui-ci est stocké. Et bien évidemment, pour le plaisir de tous, à la fin vous pourrez le déguster.
It's time to continue to the town of Woerden and visit the Cheese Experience WarehouseThe only cheese warehouse in the Netherlands still in operation and which can be visited. Here you will be accompanied by an expert, you will discover the finesse of cheese making and you will see how it is stored. And of course, for everyone's pleasure, at the end you will taste it.

Après toutes ces visites c'est le moment de se reposer un peu. Nous avons passé la nuit dans le Stads Hotel Woerden, un 4* magnifique. L'hôtel dispose de 25 suites chaque une avec un style unique et diffèrent et toutes vraiment très belles. Vous pourrez aussi boire un verre au The Van Rossum Bar ou passer directement à table. Avec sa décoration très accueillant et élégante. Vous vous sentirez comme être assis dans un salon, cuisine et salle a manger à la fois. 
After all these visits it's time to rest a little. We spent the night in the Stads Hotel Woerden, a magnificent 4*. The hotel has 25 suites each with a unique and different style and all of them are really beautiful.You can also have a drink at The Van Rossum Bar or go straight to the table. With its very welcoming and elegant decoration, you will feel like sitting in a living room, kitchen and dining room all at once.

The room

Si vous passez plusieurs nuits dans les environs je souhaite aussi vous conseiller la première structure où nous avons passée une nuit. Le Holiday Park De Reeuwijkse se trouve proche de Gouda et il offre 283 maisons sur l'eau. Elle sont vraiment immergé dans la nature. C'est très relaxante. Vous pourrez aussi vous balader en vélo, faire du canoë ou profiter de la piscine qui est couverte. C'est idéal si vous voyagez avec des enfants car des activités sont organisés pour les occuper et le faire divertir. 

Au soir nous sommes passé à table chez Mercatu, une osteria dédié à la cuisine italienne. Nous avons vraiment mangé beaucoup et très bien. Vous pouvez y accéder même si vous n'êtes pas client de Holiday Park.
If you are spending several nights in the area, I would also like to recommend the first structure where we spent a night. The Holiday Parks De Reeuwijkse is located near Gouda and offers 283 houses on the water. They are truly immersed in nature. It's very relaxing. You can also ride a bike, go canoeing or enjoy the swimming pool which is covered. This is ideal if you are traveling with children as activities are organized to keep them occupied and entertained.In the evening we sat down at Mercatu, an osteria dedicated to Italian cuisine. We really ate a lot and very well. You can access it even if you are not a Holiday Park customer. So be sure to go for dinner.
